John J. Kannin was admitted to the Washington Bar in 1997. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1980. He earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California in 1983.

In 1997 Mr. Kannin graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon with a Juris Doctorate degree and a Master of Business Administration degree. Mr. Kannin has served as an officer in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in 1985 and the Air Force Commendation medal for his work on a classified defense satellite system.

He has worked in industry and as a consultant to firms doing business with the federal government. Currently he is the principal in Kannin Law Firm.
