CULTURE JAM KICKOFF: A CONCERT AND CULTURAL SOCK HOP

Diversity Arts Project is proud to present Culture Jam Kickoff: A Concert and Cultural Sock Hop. This family event is a fun evening which begins with a dance performance by Diversity Dance & Theater, followed by a musical performance by Show Brazil, and includes a contest for wearing the "wildest" socks. There will also be door prizes, a raffle and a silent auction.

This is a fundraiser for Diversity Arts Project [formerly Diversity Dance
Workshop] and is co-sponsored by the City of Bellevue Parks and Community Service Cultural Diversity Program. This is also the kickoff event for the Culture Jam - Across the Lines: Celebrating Youth of All Cultures [a day of visual arts, music dance, theater, drumming and writing]. This event will be held the following Saturday, April 14th from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm at the Garfield Teen Life Center, at 428-23rd Avenue. For information call (206) 937-1936. Diversity Arts Project [DAP] is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1992. The organization consists of two programs - Diversity Dance & Theater and Youthquake. Diversity Dance & Theater [DD&T] is composed of youth from the throughout the U.S. and around the world, who volunteer a year of service to enhance community awareness of critical social issues. DD&T's repertoire continually evolves and is tailored to accommodate various age groups and audiences. Most shows consist of a high energy opening number, followed by dance pieces that deal with critical social issues, and ending with a joyful celebration of our diversity through an eclectic mix of cultural dances from around the world.

Show Brazil [www.showbrazil.com] is an authentic Brazilian performing group, specializing in everything from Brazilian Jazz and Bossa Nova to the Samba.

Tickets for the Friday, April 6 event, Cultural Jam Kickoff: A Concert and Cultural Sock Hop, are $25.00
for families and $10.00 for individuals.
